Inter-Squadron Cross Country Championships

On the 13th of January 148 (Barnsley) Squadron attended the Annual South and West Yorkshire Wing Cross Country Championship.

Once we arrived at Thornes Park we began by handing out the squadron sports tops and shorts so that we could be easily recognised amongst the other squadrons. After all the cadets were kitted out in our running gear, CWO Owen began a warm up that consisted of sprinting, jogging and stretching. Once we were warmed up we then made our way towards the starting line to find a place to watch and cheer our teams. We had full teams in most of the categories and were really looking forward to getting started. As the races got underway the staff and cadets began to cheer which was really encouraging as cadets ran past.

After all the races were completed everyone made their way to the main building where the Wing Chief of Staff, Sqn Ldr French could make the presentations. The cadets who competed did really well and 148 was in the top 3 for most of the events including;

1st – Senior Boys
1st – Junior Boys
2nd – Junior Girls
3rd – Senior Girls
2nd – Overall Males
2nd – Overall Female
2nd – Overall winners

The squadron was delighted to find out that we had scored highly in the majority of the catagories! Well done to Cpl Cameron Schofield, Cdt Will Booth and Cdt Tristan Wright who has also qualified to represent the wing at the Regional Cross Country Championship. Well done to everyone who has taken part, you have done yourself and the squadron proud!
