Cosford Air Show 2022

On the 12th of June myself, five other cadets and two staff members travelled to RAF Cosford for an amazing day of viewing a varied selection of aircraft on the ground and up in the air. For myself, it was not the first time attending an event like this, however, it was even more special now I am an air cadet. For others in the group, it was either their first time attending an air show or another good day at one.

When we arrived, our first stop was a hanger which housed all distinct types of aircraft from le Pou du Ciel (flying flea) to the widely known chinook Bravo November. The second hanger we went in had a few different stalls from flight simulator VR and a remote-control simulator which a few of our cadets had a go on, to make and engrave your own keyring. After looking around the hangers, we decided to have a look around the ground and at some stalls, which included a typhoon display stall and different RAF information stalls (where many freebies were collected).

There were different aircraft on the ground that we got to look around like the Hercules and the sea king that we got exclusive access to. A big part of the air show was the BBMF fly past but unfortunately the Lancaster was unable to attend however the spitfires had a brilliant show which made a few of us tear up. One of my favourite fly pasts was the F-16 which shook the ground and the red arrows which did an incredible mix of manoeuvres.

I look forward to attending more air shows in the future.
