Success at 148!

Recently, various awards and achievements have seen cadets praised here at 148 (Barnsley) Squadron.

Firstly, Cdt West and Cdt Yates have been presented with their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh certificates. This draws to a close their Bronze award. A true reflection of all their hard work put in over the last year, and a great start to 2019! We wish them the best of luck on their journey through their Silver award.

Secondly, Cdt West and Cdt Faunt visited 9AEF based at RAF Linton-on-Ouse to complete an Air Experience Flight in a Grob Tutor. This is a truly fantastic opportunity and an example of Barnsley delivering the AIR in Air Cadets. Both cadets have said how much they enjoyed the sortie, and can’t wait to revisit 9AEF in the future.

Finally, Sgt Butler and Cpl Bray have been awarded their Method of Instruction Lanyards. This comes after completing a course and planning their own lessons based on the syllabus promoted by Headquarters Air Cadets. They were assessed by Sqn Ldr Kirk, Sector 1 Commander South and West Yorkshire Wing. Sgt Butler delivered a lesson on the history of the Air Training Corps and Cpl Bray delivered a lesson on the principles of Leadership using the acronym SMEAC. Well done to you both and we look forward to you putting your new qualification into use during your remaining time at Squadron!
